Julie will be walking in her first ACS Relay for Life this weekend … as a first time participant and as a survivor!! And she is busy fund raising for her team. For all cancer survivors the Relay has special meaning … it is a way for us to celebrate, remember and fight back.
When you hear "celebrate" and "cancer" in the same sentence in may be confusing to some. But the devastating diagnosis and treatment of cancer tends to brings out the best in people … they appreciate life more; they give more and they do more. It is a way to honor and remember those we have lost. And it is a way to fight back by funding groundbreaking cancer research, providing up-to-date cancer information, being advocates for all people to have access to screening and treatment, and offer free programs and services to improve the quality of life for people facing cancer.
We all know Julie will be the life of the party at the Juneau Relay for Life. Her personal story of her battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer is inspiring and we all know she is winning this battle because of her awesome attitude and her terrific sense of humor. She is well aware that having a bilateral mastectomy for her is like Don King getting a hair cut … people noticed the change. But that hasn’t stopped her from living life to the fullest, sharing her story, and helping others.
Now won’t you help Julie by donating to the cause? Will you help her be the top fund raiser on her team? Please help her find a cure. Please click here to donate.
And if you can, please join the celebration on July 18 & 19 from noon to noon at 2901 Riverside Drive, Juneau, Alaska.
As always, Julie’s proud mom, Jan
