We had just watched Farrah's documentary of her illness, treatment and struggles a few weeks ago. Our hearts went out to her, to her son, to the love of her life Ryan O’Neal, and to her family and friends. We knew to expect the worse, but it is was so hard to hear the news – we were hoping for a miracle.
Dr. Jerri Nielson also lost her battle with breast cancer this week. She was the doctor who treated her own breast cancer in the Antarctica about 10 years ago at a research station in the South Pole. We had learned of Jerri's struggle with being so far away from treatment that she had to administer chemo to herself. What a brave woman she was and what an inspiration to those of us that have battled breast cancer.
What true superstars these ladies were and true icons to be admired and looked up to. These two very special ladies were our heroes. All of us survivors are fighters and we have won the battle so far and will continue to fight each obstacle that comes before us.
Thank you Farrah and Jerri for letting us into your lives and sharing your personal struggles and stories with all us. You have given so many people the courage to push on. And you have given us all another reason to continue our to raise money for research and clinical trials; to educate and inform everyone we come in contact with; and to find a cure for all cancer’s in our lifetime.
Wishing for miracles for everyone, Jan
