Once again I am going to be in tears soon as my precious granddaughter has decided to move north to Alaska. I know in my heart this is a good thing ... she will have a new adventure in her young life and she will find an exciting new job and make tons of new friends. This IS a good thing. This past year being so far away when her mom was going through cancer treatment was hard on her, so I know she wants to be closer to her mom. But that puts her farther away from me and that makes me sad.But there was no time for tears today!! She had a fabulous Going Away party and it was great fun! It was a costume party - the best dressed "Alaskan" won a prize!!! So it was an incentive to hit the Goodwill stores and find the perfect outfit!!! I hope some of these ridiculous pictures don't make you laugh too hard.
Our only experience of Alaska has been as a tourist....so guess what....we were tourists!!! We went all out and tried to find the most ridiculous outfits we could find!! I even found "cruise ship" earrings to make my outfit complete!!
Jess was "Sarah Palin" and Nick was a "LumberJack". It was great fun and thanks to Jess and Nick and some of the antics of their great friends, I didn't shed any tears today!! The tears will come later....but there will be tears of joy too as I know this great adventure to the great land of Alaska is what they want and need!!
Plus it will give me more to write about in this blog as stories about their new endeavors flood my email inbox. But don't forget, occasionally you will have to listen to my lonely heart bleed a little too and I know many of my readers understand.
