Running has never been my forte'......and certainly RUNNING in the RAIN doesn't sound like much fun....but when you are determined to be a survivor it is what you do!!And Julie and Ken kicked butt in the Alaska Cancer Connection Beat the Odds 5K Run yesterday!!!!
It has just been 16 months since Julie has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer and here she is RUNNING in a 5K race with her wonderful supportive husband Ken!! Yes, you read this right.....she RAN!! She continues to amaze me....and about a million other people! This past year has been horrible (to say the least) for them both and here they are are.....surviving and celebrating life.
Just in case you can't see what her shirt says, it says "These boobs are fake, my real ones tried to kill me". Ken's shirt says "Cancer Sucks"!! These two are working hard to make everyone aware of breast cancer and IBC and that you can survive! Julie has also been asked to be the Survivor Chair for the ACS Relay for Life in Juneau. So she will be busy for sure....but that is what keeps this Energizer Bunny going!!
You go girl!!! I am so proud of you! You continue to amaze and inspire me! And thank you Ken for standing by her side and continuing to run the race of life with her!!!
