We have all learned more about Inflammatory Breast Cancer than we ever wanted to know; we are all more about knowledgeable about cancer and cancer treatments than anyone without a doctorate degree should have to be in a lifetime; and we have met many wonderful, courageous, determined survivors on our voyage. Julie has been fortunate to have countless amazing doctors and nurses but has spent way too many hours, days, and weeks in hospitals, doctor’s offices and treatment centers than any of us want to remember.
But even after this tumultuous year, the outcome has turned out great! Julie has beaten this monster and is going to grow up to be a feisty, healthy, tenacious old woman!! She will tell you that she is a better person because of this journey. She is more patient, understanding and appreciative. She is enjoying life and has become an advocate for all women who have heard the devastating diagnosis “you have breast cancer”.
So, pour yourself a glass of bubbly, turn up the sound on your speakers and help me celebrate today. This year long journey is over … but certainly not forgotten. We will continue to chronicle our stories; we will continue to try and entertain, educate and enlighten our readers as the hours, days and years pass … and as my little girl grows up to be an old woman.
Cheers, Jan
