Julie's three-chemo cocktail has caught up with her these past few weeks. She is near the end of these poisonous injections and in her words "can hardly wait 'til this is over". Although this amazing gal made it work today - she lost her breakfast when she pucked her guts out.I think any one who has ever had to endure 3 different chemo drugs at one time; Zeloda ... chemo pill; Methotrexate ... chemo injection; Navelbine ... chemo injection; plus daily Neupogen ... white blood cell promoting injections ... would be sick too.
On top of this .... this journey has thrown her into early menopause...something no woman should have to endure!! So on top of being nauseated, dizzy and exhausted from the drugs to save her life she gets the "fun" stuff too ... hot flashes, night sweats, sleeping problems and mood swings (huh Ken). Again, in her words "I am so lucky my wonderful husband puts up with me".
She is certainly stronger than I am ... but her strong will has kept her going. She will have the last of her chemo treatments on Friday and we will have reason to celebrate.
